Two days a go we captured a swarm. Today a man walked by and said “you guys are busy little bees, I walk by here every day and it’s always different.”
I was flattered to be compared to a bee, but mostly I felt grateful to have such amazing help with this project. Thank you Jenny, Caitlin, and Justin.

It’s really happening.

I am learning how to make things out of clay so that when we are ready to sell plant starts, fruit trees, and grape vines, we will have something to put their dirt in.
-
Tomorrow we are renting a wood chipper in order to shrink the enormous piles of brush that are holding the yard captive.
Thanks to Hendo and her chainsawing skills we are able to take this next step way ahead of schedule. I wish she could be here to chip with us. I think she might really like it, and mostly I just miss her. She is one of the most capable people I know.

Justin is clearly the Mayor of Beveragetown.
He makes ginger brew, root beer, kombucha and tea, pretty much nonstop. He is a serious professional and we are thrilled to be on the sampling committee.
-
Thank you Kathy for lending us your grow lights!

Dear Friends,
This Sunday from noon until 5pm come and work/play at Future Farm, 206
NE Sacramento.
Snacks, tools and good company will be provided and when you get tired
of working you can pet a goat or hold a baby duck.
The weatherman says there is a 20% chance of rain but he tends to be a
little ironic, so dress accordingly.
Can’t wait to see you!
Thanks,
Seth, Kenya & Justin -
One of our adult ducks, Mayday Cardoon, was killed by a bald eagle a few days ago. This time feels different than the deaths of the two ducks we lost to raccoons. We are sad, but it’s hard to be angry at a bald eagle. If nothing else, I am pretty sure that this is the most patriotic way to die.
Fig, May’s bestie, has been pretty freaked out, she wont stop yelling and Cinco (the turkey) keeps attacking her. Poor Fig.
Also, I never would have thought that Cinco would out live May.
RIP Mayday Cardoon.
